Liked: Beautiful clean room, comfortable bed, breakfast was great each morning and lovely staff can’t wait to stay again

Exceptional

Liked: The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The staff make gor a very warm welcome on arrival. Food is great and fairly priced as well as a good stocked bar. The room was beautiful and exceptionally clean. Beautiful layout and finishing touches. Many shops are around for daily needs and shopping and we'll as close to all locations.

Liked: Location and room although a make-up mirror would be good.
Disliked: Although we had booked dinner for each night of our 3 night stay, one night they had sold out of both things we ordered. There was not a very wide choice and as we had eaten there the previous night, there was nothing left we wanted except what we had eaten the previous night. Consequently, we were forced to drive elsewhere to eat. It was quite late by that time, but we were fortunate that another pub in a nearby village stayed open longer so they could accommodate us and another couple. Also, although we were staying there and had booked in advance for the length of our stay, we were not prioritised re seating and given any table left after non-hotel guests had chosen the best tables..

Nice stay in Falkland.

Liked: The meals were all excellent, the price of drinks are reasonable.Staff are friendly.
Disliked: The heating in the bedroom didn’t come on until 6pm then off at 9pm, the room was cold, duvet was thin and of poor quality.

Overpriced for what you get

Liked: Location was fabulous in the heart of Falkland and recognizable as the filming location for Outlander
Disliked: Felt like we were an inconvenience to staff on check in who were very busy with the public bar being full. Bar noise was very loud in the room although they did tell us they would be closed by 10pm and they were. Room felt thrown together. No styling & furniture in odd places. Toilet seat put on at an angle although bathroom was modern it felt a bit rough.

AVOID: Overpriced for underwhelming service

Disliked: So. I rarely write extensive reviews under “what didn’t you like”, but this has been utterly disappointing.Most overpriced for a stay like this.This was our honeymoon and we specifically chose The Covenanter because of our love for Outlander (even though the staff said “we have nothing to do with Outlander, but they advertise it as such, are the precise location where it was filmed and have the b&b board at the entrance, but that’s ok) … There was only 1 option of a room to choose, so we couldn’t pay more or less for a different room. we did, however, book almost 2 months in advance (and it is low season as most of the things in the village are closed), asking if it would be possible to get a nice room / with a view / since it is our honeymoon. They claimed to never have received the message :) and put us in the worst room (Cameron), overlooking trash on the roofs next to it, welcomed us with no heating on so it was freezing first 3 hours, etc. 2 out of 5 towels were dirty (never happened to me before). everything was itching me when we went to sleep, but i have no additional comment on the cleanliness.And quite hilariously, in a big enough bathroom there is NO PROPER SHOWER; there are no pictures of the bathroom on booking.com, maybe we just got lucky that we were treated to the worst room, or maybe none of them do. So the shower head is just on the ceiling in the middle of the bathroom, when you shower, literally everything is wet. Good luck slipping during the night to reach the toilet - as you could in fact sit on the toilet and shower at the same time. Let’s forget about the room, it is by no means any accommodation’s duty to share our sentiment around our honeymoon, but it is common courtesy and good hospitality to offer at least a drink at the bar, since they welcomed us in a cold room with dirty towels. They did not extend that gratuity either :)

Falkland Stay

Liked: Loved the history of the location. Quaint village. warm clean comfortable accommodation. Great food. Friendly staff.
Disliked: Step into shower and up to toilet a bit treacherous but otherwise great.
