Comfortable room with fabulous breakfast...

Liked: The room was lovely, spacious and clean with a large en-suite. The breakfast was very good with a variety of choice and the staff are first class, they can't do enough for you.
Disliked: The only thing that lets the place down is the toilets downstairs in the pub section, they need a bit of TLC. When comparing the cost of two nights with a regular place we visit, Whitby, the price was much higher altough this could have been due to the fact that it was the Easter holidays.

Over-priced.

Liked: Over-priced room. Do not stay in room 17. Felt like an out-house. Shabby interior. Cold even on a warm day. Right next to beer garden, so did not feel private at all. Road noise, which was disappointing for what was supposed to be a quiet night in the Peak District. Not worth the money.

Great location

Liked: The family room is full of character. It’s spacious and clean. Short of walking distance to the castle, walks, caves and tourism centre. A lot of shops and restaurants nearby. The parking behind the hotel is not allowed to reserve so it maybe a problem during peak season. It seems that short of staff during the weekend so as impossible for early check-in.

Very pleasant overall but with...

Liked: Good sized and tasteful twin-room in the annexe. A delicious supper with a good and very reasonably priced Sancerre.
Disliked: The breakfast was the major let-down of The Castle especially when it is a place where many walkers stay, and given the price for bed and breakfast. We were told we could order one thing off the menu (There was no buffet part at all - I get there can be quite of food wastage). It would have been good to have maybe started with a porridge or cereal and then been able to go onto something else.
