Amazing location, great vibe. We’ll...

Liked: Pool and coffee shop on-site were great. We were upgraded to a larger room free of charge which was amazing. Staff all very helpful and overall a fantastic hotel.
Disliked: Had to request to have our room cleaned which we weren’t made aware of. Mini bar and in room snacks very expensive.

Atrocious second stay

Liked: Location was convenient
Disliked: This is our second time staying at the Carpenter Hotel and I’ll like to say that this was a complete downgrade from the first time. My partner and I arrived late (next morning) due to a delayed / canceled flight and I had given the hotel a heads up when I found out we weren’t going to make it. Upon checking in, the receptionist seemed super confused and did not seem to understand our situation. Eventually, she brought out a manager who was not apologetic in any sense and explained to us as if we were 2nd graders that the late/cancel policy was that “the first night will be charged as a late fee”. I don’t remember the exact wording but it seem implied that it was obviously that we wouldn’t get a refund for the first night we missed. I want to reemphasize that I expected to be charged for the night we did not stay in, but she was so rude and did not even apologize or ask if we were ok due to the delayed arrival. Usually hotel staff will be concerned and ask or offer something due to the inconvenience. We did not even get an apology. So that was the first issue. The second was that the facilities were atrocious this time around. When we got to our room, it felt dirty. There was a bandaid that was on the ground from the previous guests and we were too tired to complain. The phone to call the front desk did not work, so I had to use my personal phone. There was a day that I called the front desk 4 times across 20 minutes and they did not pick up. Ultimately, we just went downstairs. The pool was also gross and the pool towels were all stained brown one of those days for some reason. The third complaint is that was the staff has clearly gone down in quality and service. As mentioned, the front desk knew nothing and/or were useless, or generally avoided eye contact (even though we were really really nice about the first night charge). It was impossible to reach the front desk via phone.

Lovely vibe and grounds!

Liked: Lovely vibe! The shadyPool and lounge chairs were perfect on a hot day. Nice shower. Convenient location but quiet. Close to many walking trails along the river.
Disliked: The ac was really loud. Sounded like a truck in the wall. The room was a little small. Parking was expensive.
