Reasonable location, smelly bathroom

Liked: Stayed on a Sunday night in April. Roughly 8 parking spots, might be a bit of a squeeze if you have a large vehicle. Welcome at reception was good and all information provided about our stay. 2 short flights of stairs to room on 2nd floor - didn't see a lift but wasn't on the lookout. Room was clean, large bathroom with bath (no overhead shower). Didn't use the pool. Breakfast was buffet style continental and cooked, tea and coffee. Reasonable walking distance to city centre with subways to cross main roads. A few local shops nearby for snacks and drinks. Our only complaint was that the bathroom started to smell faintly of sewerage (room 14), perhaps a cracked pipe or something. It wasn't there when we arrived and opening the bathroom window didn't seem to alleviate the smell much. We even closed the window thinking the smell had perhaps come from outside. But no luck. Had we been there longer than 1 night, we would have asked to swap rooms.If you're sensitive to noise, when others in the building use shower facilities a humming sound, possibly from a water pump or shower unit, can be heard. The hotel is on a fairly busy road, so this too can be heard but they have installed additional pvc sliding units to reduce this.

Great stay at Hotel Thanington

Liked: Excellent staff, lovely breakfast and the indoor pool was a bonus for the children.

Good value stay within easy...

Liked: Large rooms, parking provided (good for Canterbury), plenty of space and breakfast included, an easy walk to town. Bathroom needs to have a shower, not a hand held rose in a claw bath, not satisfactory.

Manageable for one night, needs...

Liked: Free wifi and free parking
Disliked: Unfortunately the hotel was run down furniture was tatty, cleanliness wasn't great, breakfast was cold. Window broken so couldn't close it, single glazed on a busy road. shower head desperately need descaling

Liked: Thank you so much, perfect for relaxing and recovering from a busy winter period, the weather was perfect and we both left feeling rested thank you so much. The staff were the diamond of this property no request was too much and they were friendly and added another level to the wonderful stay we both had.
