Lovely hotel, well located friendly...

Liked: Lovely hotel, stunning building and great location. We had a basic room on this occasion but was clean and kept tidy by daily servicing.
Disliked: It’s under a bit of maintenance at the moment so you cannot access the spa from inside (short hop down the street). A few little bits from the last people on the room left behind (makeup palette and someone’s top) behind tv unit and in bathroom

Liked: Nice enough, read negative comments for full experience
Disliked: Visited this hotel when it was known as the Waldorf and had the most wonderful experience (lots of personal touches eg handwritten note in room, glass of fizz on arrival) and therefore the reason we returned however under the curio collection it really fails to live up to the previous treatment. There was an envelope with someone’s name in the side drawer (we visited just after Valentine’s Day) so evidently the room had not been cleaned properly by in room housekeeping. No direct access to the spa, have to walk outside in the rain in a robe to get to the pool. No personal touches in the room for special occasions the hotel knew about. No longer feels like a special hotel to visit, really went downhill now that it is no longer a Waldorf.

Comfortable and affordable luxury

Liked: The bed was comfortable, the room had a great view, the tea and coffee making facilities in the room were good, the TV was great and the bathroom toiletries were lovely.
Disliked: We didn't have the hotel breakfast as it was £35 per person which seemed a lot for a cup of coffee and some eggs.

Romantic and perfect

Liked: such a beautiful building surrounded by so much to do, amazing places for food, a stones throw away from the grassmarket and beautiful views of the castle
Disliked: A couple things feel a little dated but that’s only on closer inspection

Liked: the cleanliness, aesthetic and friendly staff!
Disliked: before booking we phoned to ask what rooms have a bath and we booked the room we were told had a bath upon arrival there was no bath this was slightly disappointing. but not the end of the world

Disliked: The valentines meal wasn't really to my taste ,but that was my fault for booking it. And was very slow .
