Lovely hotel , but difficult...
Liked: It was beautiful hotel quirky unique hotel . Loved its history and charm . Staff were friendly and helpful. We loved location and ambiance. The only thing that let it down was we booked family room and the room was fantastic, large and well laid out . But the 3rd bed for my 13 year old daughter was a camp bed at end of large queens double bed . But the camp bed was more like a sun lounger and by no stretch of imagination was it a bed as stated in bookings .My daughter didn’t sleep well . She fell out . This impacted us all . This could easily be rectified by having large comfortable mattresses on wheels under large bed that can bed pulled out when families staying. This would be much more comfortable and safer . We would visit again as couple . It’s such a shame re camp bed as would have rated higher .

Good for sleep, but not...
Liked: Comfortable large bed and nice sheets in a large bedroom. Even though it was facing the street level it was relatively quiet. There was live music playing in the outside garden but we were not disturbed by it. Huge range of breakfast products in a basket (yogurt granola, muffins, croissants) PLUS a hot cooked breakfast on top - if you can fit all that in.
Disliked: We had parked at their sister hotel as advised and walked up the road to the pub. We had a strange welcome when we tried to check in at 2.30pm and were told it couldn't happen until 3pm. There was no invitation to sit and have a drink and relax and wait, so we asked to leave our bags and went into town as we seemed to be in the way. When we did come back and were checked into the room, we realised that to get to the rooms we had to walk outside into the garden to access our bedroom in the coaching inn part. The path and entrance hallway to the bedrooms was by the kitchens and was quite grubby with broken laminate and it was not very inviting at all. The bedroom itself was nice though. See above. Someone before us had turned the heating off at the radiator level so it was chilly but warmed up eventually. We had booked a table for two for dinner at 7.45 with our booking and came from our room to the pub to find the restaurant was already full. The only table left over for us was tiny and really squashed in a corner surrounded by other full tables and we couldn't actually pull out the chairs to sit at it for all the other people who were sat so closely to us. Given we were residents, I would have thought we would have had a better table reserved. So we left again and went into town for something to eat. As I use a walking stick for my knee pain I wasn't really in the mood for more walking that day so that prospect didn't fill me with joy!

Made very welcome by all...
Liked: Breakfast was really tasty and cooked to perfection. our room was thoughtfully decorated and the bed was really comfortable, we both had a good nights sleep.
Disliked: toilet and wash room did not have an extractor fan and the lights kept flickering, the window had no lock, therefore the window was open all the time.
