Hotel under staffed but nice...

Liked: Hotel was very close to the pier/ sea , castle and other amenities which was great. We took a trip to the lighthouse and saw puffin island which wasn't far at all. The staff were all very nice from reception to dining to housekeeping, the bar.... All areas... The restaurant manager was particularly pleasant and the reception staff also very nice and helpful. The gentleman on reception was very helpful sorting a query with our room.
Disliked: The hotel is very under-staffed and this really affected the stay, in particular, the restaurant. On our second evening, there was only one individual attending to all the tables and more was needed for sure, help was intermittently given but not enough. We were waiting an uncomfortable amount of time at the end of our meal to settle the bill difference and the dessert plate had not been taken. A dish from the main meal was also still on our table. Our bill was incorrect too, we took menus to check the prices. All was rectified and the restaurant manager, who was really nice and clearly trying her best, was very accommodating and rectified the situation and apologised but it felt really uncomfortable. Overall, the hotel needed/ needs more staff!

Liked: The main reason I stayed there was because it had a lift and car park.
Disliked: There was no fridge, which there should be at the price they were charging.no hooks for your coats, no suitcase stand, carpet stains, needs a new carpet, the room we stayed in was to outdated, furniture looked to old, needs updating, needs a revamp, it was too hot.There was no view out of the window, just the yard

Amazing stay from checking in...

Liked: The breakfast was excellent continental and cooked breakfast; the choice was excellent nothing was too much trouble whatever you requested, serving staff were excellent very friendly and helpful the food was excellent.The food in the Hanson restaurant was amazing again and the serving staff again excellent and nothing you requested was too much trouble for them, very professional staff throughout the hotel.
Disliked: everything was excellent would not change anything as being in this historic hotel was lovely some may say a little dated but that was the whole experience of the hotel i wouldn’t change anything
