Pleasant pub near the main...

Liked: Room was a good size. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size. The location was perfect ,right next to the bus station and a very short walk to the theatre.
Disliked: The chef didn't turn up so there was no breakfast. There was cereal provided but no milk and some black coffee. Very disappointing. In the end I had go as did everyone else as we had our day to get on with. Need to be better organised.

It was good at certain...

Liked: Friendly staff and the food was nice
Disliked: A lot we didn’t like , the room was lovely just was too noisy at night time we was on the top floor and we heard everything , our hotel room was right next to the hallway door and that kept on being slammed every 2 minutes we was rudely woken up 2 times by a drunk lady knocking on our door at 2:30am thinking it was her hotel room and her partner kept saying it was our door number so twice she knocked on our door , there was a white door in our room witches connected to next doors room that was left open and not locked properly so we felt a little unsafe and uncomfortabl all night , the bacon was really salty and the baked beans was cold but can’t complain as it was free , for a hotel at night time it wasn’t as quite as we hoped we managed to get around 4 hours sleep all together but other than that everything else was fine

A comfortable and convenient stay...

Liked: The room was a good size, bed was a good size and the room was nice and clean. The bathroom was clean and the whole room was warm and comfortable. The staff were friendly.
Disliked: The bar area was disappointing; we went elsewhere for dinner and drinks. We had breakfast the next morning and on the whole it was ok but I had been drinking from a cup that had lipstick marks on it when I wasn't wearing lipstick!! The hot water flasks provided for tea were not boiling so the tea was poor. Individual tea pots at the table would be preferable. Sorry to complain, but these easily rectified issues would make a big improvement. Hot tea and clean crockery.

Relatively cheap and cheerful. Good...

Liked: Check in was reasonably quick. Band stopped playing music at 11.00PM prompt as we were told they would when we arrived. The central location was excellent for us. It was very close to all local amenities.
Disliked: There was a large noisy extractor fan directly outside our room. The room was nice and warm, but I wanted the window open a small amount to get some fresh air but that would have increased the sound from the extractor fan.

City pub with rooms -...

Liked: The bed was extremely comfy. Bottles of water in the room. Surprisingly quiet for a city pub. Pleasant staff.
Disliked: When we checked in at 3pm, the bar was busy and raucous with drinkers. There were no women customers. Previous reviews have mentioned that young women and mothers have felt unsafe in this bar (with no help from staff) and I can see why. Smokers stand directly outside the door, and as a result the bar/restaurant/lobby area smells of smoke, even in the morning. The toilets for the bar, are on the next floor up, towards the bedrooms. The stairs and bannisters between the two areas were disgusting - every surface was dirty and sticky. Listed building, so no lift. The stairs up to the second floor are narrow and steep. Bedroom mostly ok but too much mould in the shower. The breakfast looked great when it arrived but was in fact inedible. The food was old, overcooked (some items obviously reheated) and tasted of cardboard. When you need to saw your rubbery mushroom with a serrated knife, you know that it's time to leave. We tried to find a staff member to discuss this but once they dropped off the plates, they disappeared. Coffee was stewed.

It's a lovely place to...

Liked: The location was excellent, the quiet room was fantastic, lovely shower, bottle of water in the room.
Disliked: For me the bed was not firm enough. The WifI wasn't working when we arrived, I was told it would be fixed, but I didn't get a service.
