Luxury? What Luxury???

Liked: The room was clean as expected.Location was central to Guildford
Disliked: Luxury : noun - "a state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense". I'm sorry to say that I was less than impressed with my "Luxury Suite" at the Angel. The Hotels definition of luxury is obviously much different from mine (and from that of the Oxford English Dictionary) Two large rooms with virtually nothing in apart from a sofa in one and a bed in another, and a quite honestly a terrible small bathroom does not equate in todays travel market as luxury. The two large rooms were "utilitarian" to be generous and the Bathroom was a joke. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not operate when the lights were switched on, (as it should) it appeared so dust ridden that I cannot believe it would run anyway. The shower was a dribble from a "water scaled" shower head. And the view from the toilet when "sitting down" on an ill fitting cheap plastic seat was a joke (see photos)Having been out all day we returned to a freezing cold suite with the only heating on being in the bathroom. The radiators remained cold all night and there appeared to be no secondary heating source. The noise from the road at 4am from the "bins" being emptied was awakening and although I appreciate there is little the Hotel can do , some kind of secondary glazing might at least dampen the sound and better "black out curtains" would help with the light from the street light that is attached to the Hotel just outside the window. All in All very disappointed and to be honest I feel that the description of Lady Hamilton Suite as "luxury" could well be pushing the trade descriptions act!!! The only thing from the OED that was attributable was "involving great expense"Doubt we will be staying again or recommending the Angel to our friends (or even people we don't like)
