My stay in the Thainstone...

Disliked: When we arrived to check in we were told there was no booking for us despite someone contacting me from Thainstone house to talk about my special request a couple of days after booking. The hotel said that bookings.com hadn’t confirmed our booking to them but then why would someone from the hotel contact me if it wasn’t confirmed? They didn’t have any rooms for us so we didn’t stay there. They said they would send me an email to confirm we hadn’t stayed there for our records however, to date, I haven’t received any email. While we were in reception a woman who had just checked in came back and said the room she had been given there was another person in there. We then had to go on our phones to look for another hotel in the area.

Awesome

Liked: The "old world" charm of Thainstone House gives it a relaxing historic feel and with the addition of the spa and amenities lifts it into a modern welcoming visit ...staff are very friendly and polite ..go the extra mile to ensure your stay is relaxing and stress free ...food is lovely with good portions ..rooms are clean warm comfortable with everything you need for your stay ...the grounds are well kept and the hotel itself is a lovely building ...all in all we had a great weekend for our 50th wedding anniversary
Disliked: Only on a personal level could do with new snooker cues for the game room 😄...could nit pic but nothing else was worth a mention

Disappointing.

Liked: Breakfast is always delicious. The gym is always clean with a range of equipment.
Disliked: I regularly stay at the property while travelling with work and the last several stays have been disappointing. The bedrooms are run down with black mould and conversations on the bathroom roof. The pool showers are very dirty and mouldy, pool area is in need of maintenance - the same grate has been broken for over two years. Evening meals are ok but overpriced for the portion size and quality.

Incredible staff, gorgeous food and...

Liked: My god, we LOVED it here. Sadly only stayed a night but it was so comfortable and delightfully Scottish. The staff were 10/10 as was the food.
Disliked: Everything!! We were looking for a one night cosy stop over with good food and friendly people, this did not disappoint

Liked: Location was beautiful and the atmosphere was relaxed. Spa facilities were good and staff were lovely and accommodating.
Disliked: My room was a bit small. Enough space for one person but if there were two it would have been cramped. The lighting in the room was not great and cleanliness wise I found a paracetamol and face mask wrapper top under bedside cabinets. The bed was comfortable and tea and coffee was perfect.
