Hardly slept a wink.

Liked: Close enough proximity to CBD on foot. Clean room with bedding, towels, soap provided.
Disliked: Extremely noisy place with "socializing" lasting until 2:00am with loud conversations, laughter and slamming of doors. Our bathroom had two doors; one of which communicated with "party central". Noise makers should have been asked to keep it down or take it somewhere else by the staff after 11:00.

A lovely place

Liked: - great and friendly staff - turn off your phone and enjoy chocolate pudding with ice cream to meet people - very confortable dorms - kitchen is simple but clean and well equiped - 10min walk to city center and Intercity Bus stop

A lovely relaxing hostel with...

Liked: The hostel is in a quiet street but only a 10 - 15 minute walk from town. It has a lovely garden at the front with tables and seating etc to enjoy some sun/fresh air. Indoors it also has a relaxing lounge area with lots of books and games for rainy or colder days. And of course we loved the chocolate pudding at 8pm! We stayed in a twin room for a couple of nights and then stayed for one night in a quad share room a few days later and both were spacious and had opening windows.
Disliked: As the hostel is used by a lot of folks who go tramping, and NZ is battling invasive algea in it's rivers and lakes, a trough for cleaning boots, tent pegs etc would have been useful.
