Overall very pleasant notwithstanding.
Disliked: Strange waiting staff at dinner - not antagonistic but oddly combative. Left us all wondering what we (8) had said or done!

Will be booking again.
Liked: Dinner was served with a smile and was excellent,so much to eat with lots of little extras.The breakfast was also excellent so much to choose from.

Liked: Such a beautiful period of architecture , thoughtfully laid out with attention to detail , real fires and lovely cheerful staff
Disliked: A big old chunk of dust build up in the bathroom corner in room 6

lovely hotel but restaurant service...
Liked: Great location
Disliked: Service at dinner was poor for the price and level of the food. The staff were lovely but our sides were forgotten and we had to ask 3 different waiters for them. They still hadn’t arrived by the time we’d nearly finished our meal, so we asked to cancel them as we’d have finished before they arrived. We then sat with dirty plates for quite a while before someone cleared them. We then waited for a good 20 mins before being offered a desert menu. The food was lovely and the ambience good but the poor service just put a dampener on the meal.

Liked: Breakfast and dinner excellent.
Disliked: Disappointed with the bathroom as we did not have a proper shower. Would request not to have room 6 again.

Great week-end
Liked: Cosy atmosphere, extremely friendly and hard working staff. Excellent service and good food throughout our stay.
Disliked: The bar ran out of ice late afternoom which is unheard of in a top rated Hotel, so no coctails were available all evening.A mattress in one of our rooms had completely collapsed and was lumpy and not fit for purpose. When paying over £300 for a night you are entitled to expect a good night's sleep which was just not possible in this room. When mentioned to reception they just said that they had never before had complaints about this.Coincidentally when waiting to check out we overheard another couple making the same complaint about their mattress, so I think they know very well that there is a problem which they urgently need to address.
