Surfbreak Oceanfront Hotel Ascend Hotel Collection, Virginia Beach

The staff was friendly. The rooms were very clean; they had a good restaurant and bar with live music; it is conveniently located within walking distance from the 5th Street Beach concert stage; overall it was a great experience - I would recommend it to family and friends.

Liked: The ocean view was excellent.
Disliked: The TVs need to be updated.

One of the worse hotels I have ever stayed at, especially for the price! The hotel is in desperate need of renovation. When I walked into the lobby my first thought was that I hoped the room was better than the lobby. It wasnt! I would never recommend this hotel nor would I ever stay there again. Horrible!

Enjoyed the stay at Surfbreak...

Liked: The staff is amazing and very helpful. The location is excellent! A beach front hotel with plenty of restaurants and shopping all within walking distance. Outdoor pool along with Virginia Beach within walking distance. Trolly pickup location is near hotel for another fun way to see the area. Clean room with a view of Virginia Beach! The pier is within walking distance and recommend eating at Ocean Eddies for some good food while visiting.
Disliked: Very limited parking but a parking pass is given at time of check in. Just be prepared to walk back to hotel if Valet is not available. VERY slow flushing toilets-have to hold handle down to completely flush

Liked: The hotel was in the perfect location to restraurants, shops, and the beach!! We couldn't have asked for anything more in regards to location.
Disliked: Provide beach towels.

Disliked: COCKROACHES DIRTY BEDDING HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOT DISCOUNT MY ROOM

Disliked: Reception and the bar/restaurant are basic. It’s in an area that only has basic restaurants.

Disliked: There were two receptionists, a guy and a lady, The guy was extremely rude and not helpful, I book two rooms for ourself and our kids, my kids are under 10 with one being 2 years old, I respectfully asked the guy if possible we could have side by side rooms, the guy rudely responded to cancel the booking and find somewhere else, I tried to cancel it was charging the whole amount $649 dollars, I talked with the lady, she helped us with this and we god two rooms side by side, she was kind. The rooms was dirty, both toilets were not working, even there were lice on the beds, Parking is away from hotel, there were no AC in corridors and it was hit as hell. I don’t recommend this hotel.Regards,

Liked: The staff was good and did like the bar somewhat. I did meet people during the stay and that was great.
Disliked: The day I got there, had trouble with the card (before I came the person, I talked to Said it was okay, i were over charged, MOLDED in room which had to sleep in that night, switch to another room which I made clear that I wanted jointed rooms, had to cancel one room, I moved to three sperate room before I got settle, last room so called suite, shower rode almost hit me in the head, (loose) but maintenance fix it, the suite I were in ocean view not front looking over the top of the restaurant, which looking at mildew, couldn't sit on the balcony listening to the outside of the unit to the air conditioning and the smoke from the restaurant, until it up kept i won't be back .
