Disliked: Think Twice Before Booking – You Get What You Pay ForI booked this hotel trying to save money for my family, but I truly regret it. We got exactly what we paid for—if not worse.It was me, my husband, and our two daughters. When we arrived, there were homeless individuals hanging out in the parking lot, smoking weed. Outside one of the rooms, a man stood shirtless while a woman in just her underwear was yelling from the balcony asking for a lighter. It became very clear this hotel accommodates transient guests, and it shows.What’s frustrating is that because this place falls under “transient occupancy,” tourists like us still have to pay a 10.5% transient occupancy tax—basically paying extra for a place that felt more like a shelter than a hotel. On top of that, nearly $15 in taxes? No thanks. Pick a hotel that doesn’t have these extra charges or the uncomfortable vibe.Sleeping was nearly impossible. The noise from surrounding rooms went on past 1 AM, and the thin walls didn’t help. It felt like we were the outsiders—many of the people seemed to live there long-term and looked at us like we didn’t belong. I messaged Super 8 through their guest text system, and no one ever responded.Parking was another nightmare. If you’re out enjoying San Diego and come back late, good luck finding a spot.Breakfast? A complete joke. It was overcrowded with what seemed like regular residents. They all knew each other and made us feel completely unwelcome. Coughing everywhere, and at 7:30 AM, there were only three apples left. That’s it.The rooms are outdated, which we expected, but the beds were extremely uncomfortable, the AC didn’t work well, and the whole room felt humid. The bathroom vent barely functioned, so showering just made things worse. My daughters were scared and uncomfortable the whole time—and we couldn’t wait to leave.
