Liked: The location was great for the tournament we were visiting Lethbridge for. Other than that, the facility was abysmal in my opinion. I thought that being a Super 8 would mean a certain basic standard… in my understanding Super 8 is family and budget geared, but is also a baseline of cleanliness, functionality, and reliability for a basic stay. This location was not a basic comfortable stay whatsoever.
Disliked: The rooms were old and dingy. The mattress on one bed was low on one whole side (towards the headboard) and inches higher at the feet, creating an angle and jokes about how sleeping with your feet above your heart might be good for your health. The bathtub in the room had chunks out of the ceramic and made me wonder how it could be cleaned. The sink in the bathroom would not drain. I literally didn’t brush my teeth on our one night stay because it was so gross and had a smell as the water pooled there before draining slowly. I learned after the fact that my parents could not get hot water in their room, which was across the hall from ours. The carpets looked like they’d never been cleaned and if I had a child with me I would not have let them run around on the floor in that room. The pillows were small bricks and the bedspread provided no warmth, it was an old style one that’s paper thin. This mattered because our room was freezing and the thermostat seemed to kick a radiator baseboard heater on, but the room never warmed up all night. My parents room, on the other hand was so hot it was a sauna, they said. Only staircases to get to the second floor, which is fine, but the main stair case was incredibly steep with signs to alert you. Not ideal but it’s an old building, so could absolutely be overlooked except that the handrail was broken out of the wall at the bottom. It seemed to be ripped out of the wall, presumably by someone who was struggling on the steep staircase, and was just hanging there un-fixed. That factor was the main reason for my review. It was incredibly unsafe and I was worried for my own parents who are spry in their 60s but a well fastened hand rail is a must for anyone on a steep staircase. I’m not one to look for frills at a Super 8, or to write negative reviews at all, I just felt moved to because of how under par the facility was. I’m surprised I paid, that’s how bad it was, and was happy I had only booked for one night.

Liked: For an older hotel the front lobby and breakfast areas had been updated.The breakfast was good with a good selection of food.The room was quiet and we were able to park our car right outside our room.Another nice feature was that this room had two doors, one to the hallway and the other out to the parking area.
Disliked: The room does need updating.
