Liked: Location , room, pool , spa . Done up nice and modern
Disliked: The building is old and the walls are to thin. No sound proofing . Could hear neighbours tv very clearly

Liked: It's technically a motel, but if it really is one, it's the best motel I've ever seen in my life. Although having said that - New Zealand in general has great motels, so maybe it's what's to be expected.
Disliked: I stayed on a night when the hotel (and in fact, all of Taupo) was near-sold out and the price per night was staggering. Think: 4 star-hotel in central Manhattan, NYC. I've checked and on other nights it tends to be more normal, but what I paid was absolutely abusive. So the price/quality ratio is critically bad from my perspective.

Will Not Be Staying There...

Liked: The highlights were the comfortable bed and air conditioning. The restaurant Lionel's had beautiful food and we would definitely go there again.
Disliked: The view of the lake was really disappointing. On booking.com was a lot closer to the lake than the hotel was, so was misleading. Our view was marred by trees, passing cars, passing pedestrians (so lacked privacy) and then for 2 of the 5 days the appearance of a food court and then a fair on the vacant grounds directly in front of us - totally obliterated what view we did have.The sound proofing is non-existant, walls very thin. The cleaners were laughing/talking and banging things around so not trying to remain as quiet and professional as possible for remaining quests (expected for the rate paid).The bathroom was really large but in that amount of space the toilet should either be separate or a bath or tub included.

Disliked: Restaurant food was the worst I ever had the steak was 2 slices not value for money paid good money for a beloe average meal to cap it off the bloody waiter stood on my food while serving me my meal !
