fantastic weekend

Liked: tThe whole experience was fantastic, the staff, the food, and the general comfort and cosyness of the hotel and spa
Disliked: there was nothing not to like

Some excellent aspects but overall...

Liked: Room was big and spacious with very comfy beds and linen. Hotel staff were very helpful. Set menu at the restaurant was excellent and good value. Nice location.
Disliked: The bathroom was disappointing. We were on the first floor and couldn't get any any hot water from the sink and the water pressure was low so the shower was feeble and the shower was in the bath. I don't think it was a 5 star bathroom. Decor needs a refresh.

Disliked: The spa changing facilities were small and would benefit from updating.

Exceptional

Lovely house, great food and...

Liked: Unfortunately the pool and spa were under maintenance so not available, but we were given a room upgrade and in-room treats to compensate. Staff were charming and helpful. Dinner a la carte was excellent, as were breakfasts and bar food. Sourdough bread to die for!
Disliked: It was a birthday treat, but all in, it turned out to be a somewhat expensive 2 night stay.
