Liked: The staff being friendly, and the food at the restaurant was all that I enjoyed.
Disliked: I had high hopes for my first hostel in Cairns however I was immensely disappointed. As a solo traveller from the UK I would not recommend this hostel, I felt so alone and besides one girl and the staff within this hostel nobody was friendly. If you want to meet people who are actively travelling and wanting to talk to others who are from England, I would not stay here. Many people living here are long term and do not care or wish to even smile at you. The dorm felt like a prison, I was sharing with 5 others, 4 of which were 2 couples, who barely said a word to me which made me uncomfortable. Baring in mind I am a very outgoing, positive, happy person. This place made me feel low for the 3 nights I was here. Very small room also. Staff were super friendly though which was a massive plus, however when I asked to change rooms it was refused.

Decent as hostels go.

Liked: Shuttles into and back from town every 30 min was really useful.Very near to the botanical gardens and esplanade.Lots of activities for those who want them, free pancakes for breakfast on Sunday.Laundry facilities were great.Free bike hire (3 hours)
Disliked: Not much space to hang laundry, the majority of the lines are right next to the smoking area which is obviously an awful idea.4 person dorm was as small as it possibly could be.Kitchen was busy at all times.

Liked: The central position is very good if you have to get the train to the airport early in the morning.
Disliked: The bed was very uncomfortable and very noisy. We don't have our own electric socket in our bed. Was a private room, but very uncomfortable.
