Liked: Staff were very nice & helpful, arrived early but room was ready in a few minutes so no waiting ,had food in the bar which was nice chips could have done with being a bit hotter, nice clean & comfy room
Disliked: Bathroom was nice & clean but toilet seat needs replacing

Liked: Brilliant location to visit the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace & Gardens. Only a 4 minute walk to hotel from the Gloucester Rd underground station. Beautiful building. Very good price paid for room including continental breakfast. Tea, Coffee making facilities & bottle of tap water in the room.

Liked: Avoid at All Costs – Dishonest Practices & Filthy Conditions!I recently had an absolutely terrible experience at Gem Strathmore Hotel, and I feel compelled to warn others. If you’re considering booking a stay here—DON’T.Deceptive & Shady PracticesUpon arrival, I was suddenly asked to sign a document that was never mentioned at the time of booking. When I questioned it and said I didn’t feel comfortable signing something I hadn’t been informed about, I was told I couldn’t stay unless I signed. There was no prior warning about this in the booking process—a complete bait and switch.To make matters worse, when I later requested a copy of what I had signed, I was given a completely different document with totally different wording. This is not just unprofessional—it’s outright dishonest.Filthy & Cramped ConditionsThe hotel was disgusting. The corridors were so narrow and cluttered that maneuvering luggage was a nightmare. Dirt and grime were visible throughout the hotel—it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority. I genuinely felt uncomfortable staying here.Ridiculous Rules & RegulationsGiven how deceptive they were about their documents, I wouldn’t be surprised if their so-called “rules and regulations” constantly change to suit their needs. The way they handle guests is completely unprofessional, and the conditions are unacceptable.Final Verdict: STAY AWAYIf you value honesty, cleanliness, and basic customer service, this is NOT the hotel for you. Their shady policies, filthy conditions, and lack of transparency make it one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
