Liked: Set in a charming setting, in its own grounds with superb views- close to all required shopping facilities but still in a country setting
Disliked: Almost nothing to not like, maybe a little dated in parts

Excellent, chilled weekend away in...

Liked: Comfortable room with TV & streaming channels. Excellent quality, locally sourced, well-cooked food. First class breakfast. Well stocked & comfortable lounge bar all with friendly, pleasant staff.
Disliked: Too many menu choices not available (5 on the first dinner and a further two on day two!) Should have had some substitutions rather than lack of choice.

A very comfortable stay with...

Liked: Lovely breakfast and beautiful location with nice country walks. I was there for a family funeral that I was co-organising and the staff went out of their way to go the extra mile. There was a very nice hospitality tray in the room.

Lovely cosy rooms in a...

Liked: Lovely cosy room and all staff were friendly . We had a view over the canal and the church bells ringing in the morning was an added bonus .

Would definitely stay there again...

Liked: Beautiful old building with modern extension. A couple reviews commented that it was cold but the temperature was fine, particularly in the modern part. The staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us.
Disliked: The beers and wines at the bar are limited. The restaurant was ok but not exceptional (although, again, the waiters were great).

Enjoyable and I would stay...

Liked: I was traveling alone from my home in Devon, I have family and friends in the area and invited 2 to dinner. The food was good but we found the bar staff a bit slow (Spent too much time talking to other guests. Whilst this is of course important they should look after new customers as well. as the dinner was good, I decided to reserve Sunday lunch with another friend. We both chose the Sunday lunch. Lot's of meat and on top a large Yorkshire pudding. This was hiding what was on the plate. It was only my friend had finished and I still had a long way to go that I realised that she had no roast potatoes and I had 4. She also had 1 carrot and I had none. We reported this to the waitress who was very humble and pleasant and said she would report it to the chef. She said we should have had 2 potatoes each.
