Lovely people, nice place
Liked: It was the staff that made it - really friendly and welcoming. Food was also good and the room comfortable and clean.
Disliked: Perhaps starting cooked breakfasts slightly earlier would work better for business travellers

Really great find with lovely...
Liked: Location, decoration in lounge, bar and restaurant food was excellent. At breakfast the chef came to the table to ask if everything was OK and if anymore hot food was required. Carmenza was a superstar. Amazing personality and customer service. A real asset to the business.
Disliked: The room was clean but a little basic. Travel kettle needs to be improved and shower needs upgrading to a more modern high powered shower. Very comfortable though and peaceful.

Passable
Liked: After I was moved to a different room (not infested with bugs) the room was great and had a great sleep. The bed was very comfortable and even with the big wedding on I couldn't hear a thing once the door was closed. The food was delicious (dinner and breakfast) and the staff in the dining room were lovely. The hotel itself looks beautiful from the outside and is set in a rural setting so was a perfect place to stop over when doing a big drive from south England to Scotland in a few days
Disliked: I wanted to love this hotel more however there were some customer service issues that should be addressed. I was emailed prior that there was a big wedding during my stay (which is fine) and was put in a room far away from the bar and wedding areas (also fine). Entering the room I saw a sign that said do not open the windows as there are bugs; being allergic I did not open any windows. There were a few bugs in the room (~5) that I disposed but somehow they kept appearing, including large horseflies that kept flying at me. After seeing about 20 in the bathroom and realising the room was infested with them I went to reception (no staff available) so went to the bar where the barman told me that reception was not available. I told them I would like some bug spray or something (by this time I was bright red with a rash and itching all over) but reception refused to come out and the barman could not find anything. I went back, took some medication to try to help but more bugs were appearing. I went back to reception / bar over 4 times and stood in front of concerned wedding guests bawling and scratching until reception finally came out. Lady at reception said "that's not good" and told me I shouldn't have opened the window (I didn't!) and then moved my room as I was sobbing in pain and bright red from the rashesI don't mind if there are bugs and can just dispose of them (or reception sometimes does) but this room was clearly infested badly. To not even have bug spray or some sort of solution (when it is clearly known about because of the signs) is not good enough for the price paid for this hotel
