Liked: The location was splendid.
Disliked: The first night when I arrived at the hostel I shared a room with a guy who snored so loudly that the roof almost flew off. I slept for only an hour and requested a room change which was fulfilled. I had high hopes, maybe this room would be different. Peaceful, quiet, cozy... BUT NO! I had the great pleasure of sharing a room with a bunch of 40-year-old Dutch men who came to the room at 2 am fully drunk. Of course, the night didn't go by with wonderful snoring from one of the members of the Dutch drunken clan. The second night I was prepared for the snoring with the earplugs I asked from the reception desk. But I got a little surprise at 2 am when I was sound asleep. One of the drunk Dutch men decided to shake me up and speak to me in Dutch. I was confused, I was angry, told him I don't speak Dutch. He kept on going in Dutch but I managed to understand that he was asking me if I was alive. I answered with yes, I was sleeping and while I was ready to fall asleep again. I heard the group of friends cackling and imitating me because, of course, it is always fun to wake up an 18-year-old girl when you yourself are an old Dutch man who can't afford a hotel. Frankly, this experience at the hostel ruined my whole experience of the trip to Maastricht because I could not get a good night's sleep any of the 3 days I stayed there. I should also mention that the beds didn't have any curtains around them so anyone can see you while you sleep. The room also had no ventilation or air conditioning so it felt like a sweaty sauna. I think the Dutch men picked the room because of that. And there were no shared bathrooms or toilets on the hall, no, no, no, you have one bathroom and one toilet for the room. So you can imagine how happy I was to see that everyone wanted to use the bathroom at the same time but oh dear, Noud has been showering for 20 minutes and he doesn't plan on getting out. Anyway, this was a trip I will never forget, and not in a good way.

Excellent location and well maintained...

Liked: This hostel is in an excellent location with easy walking distance to the city center. Also, being along the Maas makes this an added bonus. The facility is very well maintained and the lounge area and terrace in the back overlooking the river makes this seem like you are staying in a luxury hotel. This is the best Stayokay I've stayed in the Netherlands.
