Disliked: Hotel owner miserable and sour, v unwelcoming. Her first word to me was "unfortunately"! (I am elderly and had to struggle up three flights with a heavy suitcase, no help provided.) Staircases are narrow and steep, and the bottom one is made even narrower by a stair lift that was broken. Room hideously and cheaply furnished--looked like a lot of junk that someone threw out. My room shared a shower and toilet with three other rooms. Breakfast food very cheap, either no taste or tasted terrible--"orange juice," or whatever that orange liquid was, was sour and undrinkable. Two reading lights over bed, but it was impossible to sit up and read because bed had no headboard and wall behind head of bed slanted forward 60 degrees. Room had teakettle but no tea and no cups! The description here hypocritically says the breakfast is "free" and "complimentary"--what nonsense. It is included in the price. When I left I slipped on the stairs, and my suitcase tumbled down to the front door. The crone did not ask if I was all right. All she did was to whine about how I had damaged the carpet!

Liked: Located about 3km north of the city centre. slightly nearer to the beach. The area has various places to eat, shops a couple of museums. Easy tram & bus connections to the city centre & beach. The room was very clean a descent size with a double bed which was comfortable. Buffet style breakfast was satisfactory. Free Wifi connections was excellent.
Disliked: Shared bathroom but my room was next door to it. There was no facilities in bathroom so had to wash hands in own room. Buffet breakfast was a bit small. All of these dislikes were slight and did not affect the enjoyment of my stay.

Liked: Delightfully old style hotel, a welcome change from the sameness of most modern hotels. Excellent breakfast. Perfect location for where I needed to be.
