The bitter lengthy "fast" check-in...

Liked: The hotel's location—right across from Bologna Centrale Station—was incredibly convenient. We appreciated the stylish design of both the room and the hotel, the comfy beds, as well as the cleanliness. A lovely touch was the small surprise treats waiting for us in the room.Breakfast offered a diverse selection of food, and the restaurant staff were both friendly and efficient.
Disliked: The bathroom, including both the bathtub and shower, was a bit outdated. Additionally, although we were three guests, we found only one bathrobe and two pairs of slippers in the room. However, for a one-night stay, this was not a major issue.The main downside of our experience was the reception staff. The receptionist I interacted with was not very communicative and displayed a somewhat condescending attitude, which was quite frustrating.I had completed the fast check-in online as per the hotel's email instructions, considering our late arrival at 22:30. However, the receptionist showed no acknowledgment of this. Instead, he requested all our passports (EU citizens), spent some time at the computer, and then asked for my daughter's age—even though he already had her passport in hand and the information was clearly stated in the Booking reservation. He then asked us to pay for the room in advance, which we did. I found this request slightly offensive and had never happened to me before, but perhaps it’s just hotel policy—I’m not sure.The next morning, when I asked the same receptionist for directions to the breakfast restaurant, he responded with the same dismissive attitude.This experience left me wondering why I had received emails from Starhotels Excelsior promoting a fast online check-in process—where I was supposed to simply provide my reservation number and collect my room key—along with an express check-out option that would allow payment authorization the NEXT day. Unfortunately, the actual process did not align with these promises.

Liked: The Location was perfect , and was easy to find. Check in was very quick and kinds got their perks ,which made them happy.Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: When we arrived we had a lot of luggage, it would have been nice if the ground staff had paid attention, we had to carry all our luggage and when we arrived at our floor there was a member of ground staff who took our kid’s luggage. He was very nice and was thankful for his help.
