Excellent last minute find for...

Liked: Lovely country house in the middle of nowhere, but still fairly close to the M74. I need quiet and darkness to sleep well, and this was perfect for that.

Liked: My partner emailed the hotel directly with a couple of little niggles we experienced, and we were extremely disappointed not to get a response.Those niggles aside, our room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, views were incredible, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Lack of response/customer care has put us off returning.

Liked: As usual great location and stayBramble the dogs loves it here...always question why he does not live there...maybe a dog in residence.....the two black labs could allow him to share tye facilities!

Bit of a strange place

Liked: The room was ok (but pretty small) and bed was comfy and nice shower (if it had hot water) some of the staff were very friendly
Disliked: Had a bit of a weird vibe. A very large country house and clearly some parts still aren’t really used - some stairs are only carpeted up to a certain level then there are bare floorboards and those parts are obviously not part of the hotel … the staff challenged us saying we hadn’t booked breakfast when we had and they asked us to prove it to them by showing them our booking on booking.com and didn’t take our word for it which was unnecessary I think to show such a lack of trust and meant we had to go back to our room to get our phones when we wanted to just sit and eat our dinner after a very long journey … the breakfast we thought was mediocre - eggs not runny and then the showers in the morning were not hot - lukewarm turning to cold. When we mentioned this on checkout they said it was probably the pilot light gone out in the wind and that they would get the person to check it after he had sorted out the animals. Too late for us sadly but hopefully it was sorted out for other guests. Just don’t know how the hotel makes any money - quite a few staff - a huge place to heat and look after - clearly not all the hotel is finished .. just a bit of a strange vibe

Liked: House is beautiful. Grounds fantastic. Rooms super comfy. Staff extraordinar.
Disliked: Food. Unfortunately not up to the standard of everything else.

Amazing hotel absolutely loved it...

Liked: It was a beautiful period property, we need to keep these kind of hotels going instead of using big chains, family ran hotels the staff and the owner were very nice
Disliked: Everything it was brilliant the staff were very nice and very cool to stay in a lovely big old property like that stunning
