A late Victorian mansion Somerton House Hotel bears the distinctive red sandstone like much of the buildings within the town of Lockerbie. The hotel features free parking a bar a children's playground a garden and a restaurant. Within the restaurant a breakfast buffet is served in the morning. In the evening there is also an extensive menu with many of the dishes having an emphasis on locally caught fish and game. All the rooms are elegantly furnished with private bathrooms full free Wi-Fi coverage a LCD TV with built-in DVD/iPod players and a work desk. With easy access to the surrounding countryside Somerton House Hotel is a 40-minute drive from the magnificent Gray Mare's Tail Waterfall and a 4-minute drive to Lockerbie Golf Club. With only a 15-minute drive to the popular Dalton Pottery Art Café guests can decorate their own ceramics.

Liked: The food was very good
Disliked: Unfortunately the room we stayed in was outside at the rear of the hotel and even with curtains closed there is a big orange light outside on the wall and it was so bright it shone through the curtains and made the room almost like daylight so it was difficult to sleep. Yes I know its a safety light for the passage way but it shines through the curtains.

Convenient, friendly staff but overpriced...

Liked: Friendly staff on reception when I got in after 9pm
Disliked: Very small room, low ceiling, not typical of Somerton house and should have been cheaper to feel like value for money

Liked: Nice clean room. Good location, excellent hotel.
Disliked: Food took a long time and wasn’t great quality
