Superb

Great location but very inconsistent...

Liked: The location. A small select group of staff.
Disliked: Some of the staff provided very poor service. It was very unlike Sofitel and a shame to the brand. Property is outdated (we are aware it will be renovated) but for the price we paid, we expected better. The worst part was that someone vomited in the pool and staff sis absolutely nothing other than let engineering know. They first argued it was sunscreen (before coming to look at it) and after numerous guests explained it was bolognese, they logged it. Meanwhile children who were unaware swam in it. It was absolutely disgusting. This was only one example of poor service

Definitely not worth the hefty...

Disliked: Bathroom wasn't clean, mould in shower that came off with foot so not hard to clean! Asked for an early check in which was not granted. There was champagne positioned near front reception with no staff offering to pour one. I helped myself and was abruptly told "that is for guests checking in" and must be served by staff. Not a problem, we were waiting for our room so assumed for $750 a night I could partake in a glass. Was not made to feel welcome at all.

Extremely disappointing

Disliked: Rude staff. Paid for a room with a view and instead got one on the ground level looking at a garden bed full of weeds - no view. The hotel was empty as quiet period. Receptionist said they would contact us and move us to another room. They never did. Everything was an additional cost. Advertised with parking, this was extra per night. Using a day bed at the pool was even charged. We limited the time we spent at the hotel as it was so disappointing - not what you expect when paying for a luxury hotel. My parents love Sofitel and we stayed there on their recommendation. Clearly the standards have dropped. We were extremely disappointed especially for the price. Will not be returning.

Liked: Location, size of room, room view (525) excellent for sunset.Hotel on Hastings st and 2 minutes from main beach and restaurants. Concierge excellent
