Best staff and location

Liked: Everyone from the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Isabela who worked during our breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning during our stay and the receptionist on Saturday afternoon who helped get our coffee to go :) The breakfast was really good, I was a bit afraid it will be messy in the bar after being open until 1am based on previous reviews but all was spotless clean and breakfast items were regularly topped up. The room was very nice and spacious and the location was amazing, right in the centre of everything you need and very close to all the bars, restaurants as well as train station. We would definitely recommend this hostel and stay again when in Edinburgh.
Disliked: The only thing we can think of are the beds, the beds are quite squeaky but nothing that would bother us while sleeping.

Liked: Very friendly staff and brilliant location! A good communal area to meet others and decent pub next to it!
Disliked: Rooms mostly clean but with some small stains on the sink and toothoaste on the curtains when we arrived.

Wouldn't stay in hostel again

Liked: Didn't have time for breakfast as checked out at 6.00am.Room excellent, clean and good facilities.
Disliked: Noisy bar until until late hours. Couldn't sleep. When did go to sleep eventually people running up and down corridor knocking doors including ours.

Exceptional

Liked: I had the whole 8-bed room to myself. The staff was very accommodating and there is always something fun going on downstairs in the evenings.

Liked: The room had plenty of space.There were only three people in the six-person room during my stay, so it wasn't a problem, but with six people it may be inconvenient to have only one bathroom and toilet.
Disliked: Shower room is a small it’s difficult put my stuff and change my clothes. Also security is very poor.After check-out, luggage storage can be easily accessed by anyone with a key, making it easy to steal. I felt it would be better to set security cameras or allow only staff to enter. Even though there was no staff there, the key to the luggage storage area was left at the reception desk, which I talked to other guests about how dangerous it was.
