A pleasant hotel, let down...
Liked: I rented a suite, and while it was a nice large room and generally well appointed, certain aspects let it down. The bed was comfortable, and overall I enjoyed the stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The room had an unfortunate smell emanating from the toilet where I suspect there was some form of blocked drain causing the stink.A couple of floorboards near the window seemed to be broken as the floor dropped in that area. The office chair was tatty and a couple of lights weren't working. For a suite this was not great.

Pleasant
Disliked: The fragrance dispenser at the top of the stairs was pumping out noxious fumes! Probably broken, and I did not report at the time (My fault for not raising this!). no big issue but worth a fix!

Very nice bar and reception...
Liked: The staff at the bar were very accommodating and helpful. Also really polite!
Disliked: Not a bad stay, however the main issue was the location of the room in the hotel. Why aren’t the rooms at least a tiny but sound proof? Especially the rooms on the ground floor next to the function suite. We could hear the music until midnight, then after that we could hear guests doors opening and closing as they went to their rooms, which is no one’s fault, I just wish the rooms near the function room were sound proof, especially seeing as we paid extra for a suite. I didn’t get much sleep due to the noise. The room itself was dated but comfortable and clean, however the bathroom didn’t feel as clean, there were little hairs in the bath and the plaster was peeling around the shower which looked a bit gross. The spa isn’t included in the price, but we were aware of that. The spa isn’t hotel guests only so it gets busy and even if you do pay the £10 to enter, you are not guaranteed a lounger or chair. We were about to pay when we looked into the spa and when saw how busy it was we asked if it looked too busy for us to get a seat and the staff said “it’s too busy you probably won’t get a sat anywhere” so we didn’t end up going to the spa which is what attracted us to the hotel in the first place.

A few glitches but nothing...
Liked: The hotel and room are beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable , water was hot and the room was large and well furnished.although the menu was quite small the food was well presented and well cooked. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is a large car park.
Disliked: It wasn’t very warm. We had to ask for the heating put up in our room and we do not usually heat our bedroom. On the first night there was no beer on tap, only 1 fever-tree elderflower tonic and they couldn’t find 3 gin glasses that matched. When I had a bath I found that the hand held shower head in the bath was damaged and sprayed water everywhere. I couldn’t remove the plug in the bath and after a lot of struggle the mechanism for lifting the plug broke off.

Bad
Disliked: I spent nearly well over £200 staying at this hotel and they would not let us use the facilities and swimming pool. Wanted to guests to pay more money. This place used to be great been coming here for years but never again. Paying guests at the hotel spending hundreds of pounds there should be allowed to use the swimming pool
