Room maintenance problems make the...

Liked: Plenty of space. Clean. Plenty of hot water for shower. Lighting was adequate. Great television with moderate selection of programs.
Disliked: $250+ a night: Heater malfunctioning. When temperature in room hit setting the heater would turn off. When it turned back on the air conditioning fan would come on every 30 seconds making a loud vibrating noise. Given that it was below freezing outside leaving it off was not an option. When I tried to call to complain about the heater, I found the phone inoperable. I understand both these situations were common in the building. Both of these detracted from my experience. The loss of being able to sleep well should have halved the price of the room. This is my fourth January trip to Ocean Shores and I have stayed at the Shiloh every time. This was the worst and I will consider other venues next year.

Nice location

Liked: Location was great! Nice view and large room. We were able to have our dog with us also. Pool was nice, but definitely got crowded.
Disliked: Our room was a bit dirty, surfaces need a good wipe down. We were on the second floor and it wasn't bad, but the ground/first floor was having a bug problem. Our friend had multiple centipedes in her room and we also saw them all over the hallway near the stairs.

The condition of the hotel...

Liked: Good location. Good view.
Disliked: Room was dirty. I could write my name on the dirt and dust on the A/C unit. There was mold in the shower/tub combo. The shower control on the tub worked but it took a lot of tweaking. No bath towels in the room. The wood finish on the bathroom side of the door was worn off. Neither hair dryer worked properly. I had to call for bath towels to be delivered as there were none in the room. There was a single cup coffee maker in the room. Unfortunately, there were no coffee cups. There was one drinking glass. The “hot” water was warm, but not hot. The desk phones are 1970’s vintage and the one I had needed the hand set replaced. They did swap that out. The message light on the phone was flashing. When I called the desk for the message, the desk said, “Oh,I wouldn’t worry about it. I think it was for the last guest.” The message light was still blinking when I left after two nights staying in the hotel. Ceramic tiles on the floor in the main lobby are cracked and broken. The carpet in my room was filthy and badly stained, as was the carpet in the elevator. The restaurant and lounge are closed. At 5:00 PM there was laundry, a large garbage bag, and pizza boxes lying in the hallway across from the 3rd floor elevator extending for the length of 3 unit doors. Great way to impress your guests who are likely checking in around that time. I will say that the fellow who came to swap out the desk phone was very efficient and polite as was the gentlemen who brought both the bath towels and the coffee cups. These shortcomings are not the fault of the service staff. All of them were polite and reacting well to any requests I had. This is a problem with management who clearly do not wish to invest in making it a terrific property in a wonderful location, or who simply do not have the funds to make the changes. I suspect all of this is a hangover from Covid but that’s not my problem. The room rates are not cheap and the hotel does not offer value.

Liked: Location great, very quiet
Disliked: Ac unit didn’t work on a record setting hot day…. Rug needed cleaning the place is run down but has tremendous potential . Lobby is beautiful

Disliked: Rooms not ready until 3 hrs after check in Beds not ready when we walked in room and had not been clean.
