Passable

Liked: The public areas were nice. Pool and cabana bar was nice as well.
Disliked: Upon entering the room you notice a very compact bath, it was almost the minimum size possible. The 4th floor room had a nice high ceiling, big TV and a nice sitting area. The ocean view was mostly obstructed by heavy wood window covers, 2 of 3 panels would not open. The outdoor deck area was barely 25 square feet, though it had 2 chairs, two people would not be able to sit together and see the ocean. Lastly, the mattress was so worn the coverlet did not lay flat across the bed. After three days I was so sore it hurt to get out of bed. One night back home and I'm good to go, so I know it was the mattress. In summary, between the bathroom, deck and bed this place gets no better than 3 out of 5.

Very relaxing and extremely comfortable...

Liked: The room was huge and the view out across the ocean was fantastic. We often saw humpback whales breaching in the distance.
Disliked: There is a reef very close to the beach which made it very difficult to swim in the sea.

Liked: Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Complimentary bicycles, pool tables, etc. Were great.
Disliked: Your pool was freezing cold. Hardly anyone was in it. Certainly not me or my wife.

Disliked: Room we booked (king with ocean view) was not available given 2 queens with terrible ocean view. Housekeeping did not service room 2 times or were very late (4pm) when they did show up.

Disappointing lack of Aloha spirit.

Liked: pool area, view, location . I guess if you book an ocean view room that really gets an ocean view and spend your days on tours and hiking you will do fine. The location is excellent. close to drug store, grocery store and shops great view.
Disliked: Garden view room had no garden view it looked directly into a service area where semi tractor trailers with noisy refrigerator units were pulling on and out all day and you look down on two huge dumpsters and there are exhaust pipes from the kitchen or laundry pointed directly up at your tiny balcony belching steam. Beware room 358 or any on the second floor facing that way which would have been worse because even closer to the trucks and trash. "Garden view" is a joke. Also staff were very stonewalling and unapproachable. Because I had booked through Booking.com they treated me like a second class citizen. And I was not a difficult guest making demands. After I asked what happened to the whirlpool tub because I thought I had gotten an genius upgrade, and they told me there were no such rooms, I stopped asking for anything. When I had to shorten my stay, they gave me, and then booking, an enormous run-around before granting it several days later. They did this even though they were asked a week in advance and through all the "proper channels". Staff seemed unhappy, One day the electricity went out in the whole hotel for hours, and an alarm was sounding in the parking lot for hours before and during that outage. The staff person I asked what was going on said they didn't know what it was and walked away. It was a guest who was leaving who told me it was all over the hotel not just our floor but that it was not a fire. The hotel never communicated with the guests about it during or after the several hour outage. Oh yes, and if you rent a car you get free parking under palm trees that fill up with roosting birds that poop all over your car all night. Trying to find a parking space open not near one of the many palm trees is a game all the guests have to play.
