Pleasant stay, most comfortable bed...
Liked: It is an old Manor House with interesting architecture and a more modern attached building. I entered through the Manor House side by mistake and found that side of the building as far as the public areas/corridors went, was particularly scruffy and not at all hotel like, looked and felt more like a basic Old People's Home! But accessing the more modern Reception hall was far more attractive.I had asked for a room well away from the Reception Hall and the chance of banging interconnecting doors but was given a room just 20 feet from the area I was trying to avoid, disappointingly. Fortunately it seemed as though the Hotel was not very busy and I was only disturbed twice by other guests talking loudly as they passed to their rooms and banged doors. My room overlooked a side courtyard area, which was not unattractive but a team member was engaged early next morning in trailing wheeled waste bins or perhaps laundry bins over the cobbles in that area.I was checked in by a pleasant gentleman who apologised for my wait, he had been busy elsewhere with Admin, but I was impressed by the degree to which he made me feel welcome and although I hadnt booked breakfast on my rate, was happy for me to take a breakfast anyway (I preferred a lay-in instead). I was pleased with my room but the tv remote didnt work and had to return to reception to ask for fresh batteries, which was sorted and another apology offered. The room was spacious, plenty of storage if needed, clean, lovely linens and towels and probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!On checking-out, very pleasant young lady on reception, wished me a lovely rest of my day. I explored the gardens briefly, which were very attractive, but the weather was unseasonably cold and windy so I chose not to explore fully. The verandah seating area looked very attractive.Final niggle....the "sleeping Policemen" on the driveway, are evil !!! They need painting yellow!!!
Disliked: Sleeping Policemen unmarked and violent! Public areas of the Hotel in places very tired.

Not the experience I was...
Liked: It was a nice looming place. There were a number of issues while there, the first was WiFi was down. I understand it's not something they can help. While there I went down to dine. Upon arrival, I was one of only two people there. After being seated, a number of other people came to dine. I ordered first yet was the last person to receive my order. Waiting an hour appropriately. The steak was nice. The side order was below my expectations. Also, while there, the shower in my room was broken. Leaking out of everyjoim and mpre feeling like i was having a bucket slowly poured over me. The room looked lovely until closer inspections revealed blood staining on the carpets and a poorly repaired bedframe. There was no drinking water in the room even though teas and coffee was on the side. More so the fact you could hear everything happening in the rooms around all night!

Too expensive for the service...
Liked: The best I can say is that the staff were lovely and we had a bed for the night. Parking was available and free.
Disliked: There was no wifi, which meant that not only were we unable to access it personally but the property staff couldn’t access it either. This meant they pre-authorised an amount in case we used the bar however the next morning it still wasn’t working so we couldn’t check out properly and they ended up taking the cost of the night, our meal and the pre-arranged amount out. 4 days later and they are still working on it. Apparently it’s not the first time the WiFi has dropped and the mobile signal in the area is very poor. The room was in the attic, the lift was out of order so a lot of stairs. The room was quite small meaning that I kept bumping my head on the roof slope getting to my side of the bed. The window didn’t shut properly and was very drafty. The door didn’t fit properly either so ended up putting a pillow in front of it to block out the light from the corridor. The bathroom was up another fight of stairs within the room and to have the bathroom light on you have to have the stair light on meaning that a nighttime bathroom visit wakes your partner and they have to wait for your return with the light on in the bedroom. They hadn’t sorted the sub floor out when installing the bathroom so the tiles were cracked in 2 long lines and the water pressure at the sink was pitiful. Breakfast was from 8 and a buffet style, yet it took until 8:20 to get it set up completely.I would have complained but the staff were so stressed that I didn’t feel I could add to that. I feel the staff are being let down by the owners.

Probably Not Again
Liked: Comfortable bed, grounds, location, free cctv car parking.
Disliked: No safe, no fridge, The central heating was not working, the hotel did supply two portable heaters but everytime we left the room they stopped working so it was freezing upon our return. The Wi-Fi wasn't working. In the restaurant, both coffee machines were not working. Complimentary tea and coffee did not include biscuits, something that every 3* hotel does. There is no way this hotel is 4*. Disability room booked but not available [check with hotel] so could not shower as no wet room, the hotel did offer for us to use a wet room 80 mts away but that's not practical. Not very well explained that to book breakfast in advance attracts a £5 per person discount.
