Okay property but not a...

Liked: Staff were friendly and helpful
Disliked: Not the properties fault but my room was very messy from other people staying there. I was put in the room with all the long term tenants and so they all knew eachother and kept me up talking loudly with the light on until gone 2am. The kitchen is very small and other than outside and a tiny room, there is no communal chill area

Great stay in the heart...

Liked: Beds were comfy (we stayed in private room), garden had a nice vibe. They did sausage sizzle for everyone which was cool. Close to bus stop, convince store, train and tram. Felt very secure
Disliked: There were only a few showers so sometimes you had to wait for a shower, for us this was in the evening. Late morning was less of an issue. Not a big deal but definitely had to plan ahead a bit.

Solo traveller

Liked: Hostel has a lovely little garden, and the hostel holds several events. There is a kitchen and plenty of fridge space. rooms were tight as the lockers are awkward and not all bags fit so many leave the bags in the middle of the room which made it tight. My room had a sink but it was placed too close to a bed it made it difficult to use. the kitchen was good in terms of pots and pans all appeared quite new. The hostel has a WhatsApp group chat which is helpful to keep up to date with what's going on in the hostel. I slept well and it was close to central station and a Coles so really couldn't complain overall. Although the bathroom is shared I never had any issues, the shower had good pressure and you didn't have to keep pressing to keep the water on!
Disliked: I knew the hostel didn't have Aircon but our window didn't have a fly screen which made it difficult to leave open in the evening when it was cooler. I didn't realise before I cooked that there was no oven! Everyone keeps their items in bags but I couldn't see spare bags. The hostel had a free food dry store but I was unable to see one for the fridge area, and there was no freezer. One of the nights we were given wristbands for an event but that was it, I thought the hostel was going to organise us as a group but that was not the case.

Reception is only open 8-7...

Liked: Secret Garden is roughly a 10 minute walk to central station which allows you to get anywhere in the city. There are also lots of bus stops close by too. Nice outdoor area.
Disliked: Reception is only open 8-7 ish. If you arrive and earlier or later you are locked out and need to wait till reception opens. None of the rooms have air conditioning, the rooms are also very small not allowing for much space. There were only 3 showers available on the ground floor when we arrived due to maintenance, this hostel must have easily 50+ guests so it was very busy. The kitchen is small. Facilities and cleanliness aren’t the best either. It wasn’t worth the money staying here.

Disliked: There were not enough showers and toilets for the number of guests, which was inconvenient. Additionally, two Italian ladies from housekeeping were extremely loud, shouting and behaving in a very vulgar manner when cleaning the room. It was more than unpleasant and disrupted the stay
