Great location, excellent breakfast

Liked: This was our second stay at Scandic Vulkan and we left as happy with the hotel as the first time. The room was nothing special but spacious enough and we had no complaints. We like the location of the hotel - it's only about 15 minutes on foot from the center and you can find nice restaurants walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast was really good and we were especially happy that we could buy a packed lunch and fill our thermoses with coffee - we did that every day and enjoyed it in beautiful weather at Holmenkollen watching biathlon.

A nice hotel somewhat out...

Liked: The hotel is actually in a really great location once you get to know Oslo. There are beautiful sites around it, the food hall nearby is great (and the Hrimnir Ramen next door has really good chasu!) and across the river is a lively neighbourhood (plus streets with picturesque houses and the oldest church in Oslo nearby). The bedroom had a nice view, the bathroom was spaceous, the staff very friendly.
Disliked: We did receive a room with two beds pushed together and not a double bed as I had requested. The first time going to the hotel feels that it is somewhat far away from the centre. The breakfast hall did feel cosy, but is definitely too small (every day somebody had to eat in the restaurant on the floor below which meant climbing the stairs). And what is up with not having (oat) milk next to the coffee machine so that I can pour myself instead of having it go through the machine???

Location, staff and comfort were...

Liked: Location was great and close to the Mathallen (food hall) and excellent tram system.
Disliked: Nothing we didn’t like - great facilities - drinks available in reception. A kettle in the room would have been a welcome addition

Good value and only hotel...

Liked: Can’t beat the location. Very modern but with some efforts in furniture to make it more cost than most hotel of this kind.
Disliked: Very late check in and ask for payment for early check in even for a couple hours when the room is ready.

Liked: The location was great for getting to and from the centre by walking or an easy bus route
Disliked: Nothing
