NOT a 3 star hotel...

Liked: Comfortable bed. Good air conditioner in the garden room. Decent breakfast.
Disliked: The property was not well kept. It is listed as a 3 star hotel which it certainly isn’t. There is no sign at the entrance to prove this, which you would expect. There was no-one on reception on arrival and there was an attempt to put us in an upstairs room, not the garden room we had booked ( this room was considerably cheaper than the one we had paid for). We were eventually given the room we booked. It was a good size but the shower proved to be a problem. It was useless with only tepid water and water flooding out of the hose attachment when it was used. I brought this to the attention of a staff member who told us how to set it and we tried again. No joy! Next day we were told that it must be faulty so we were given the key to an adjoining room to shower. It was exactly the same. Looking back at other reviews there seems to be a reoccurrence of this problem which the management do not seem to want to solve. The restaurant was closed for the whole 3 days we were there. We only ever saw two rooms in the building; the breakfast room and the entrance. The owners of the hotel do not seem to be interested in being professional and there is little concern about being there to welcome guests and make them comfortable during their stay. It seems to be a chore for them. Having stayed in many, many hotels including a fair number of ‘boutique’ hotels I can honestly say that this is the worst in my experience. I have never had to write a review like this before and it is sad that I am having to do so.

Brilliant, Staff are amazing and...

Liked: Location was perfect for getting to work, Satis house beggars belief with the decoration, words simply aren't enough. Over the top but in a fantastic and entertaining way. The staff are beyond attentive & helpful. Breakfast was amazing every day and always freshly cooked to order not buffet style.Restaurant for evening meal was good solid food, very nice with a decent choice every day, no evening meal on Sunday when i stayed, any special requests or special diets happily catered for with a little notice. absolutely would stay again.
Disliked: Avoid the attic room if at all possible, very low celling and door frame & colleague injured head.Will not suit a minimalist.

Best avoided but acceptable if...

Liked: Rooms are large and beds reasonably comfortable. Very handy location for weddings at Wilderness Reserve (4 min drive). Room is fairly clean and sound insulation is good if windows are closed.
Disliked: Most lacklustre shower I’ve ever had in a hotel in terms of temperature and water pressure - a dribble would be a generous description. On arrival (4pm) the check in form with personal details and room key was left unattended on the desk, along with credit card receipt - not great security, interactions with staff fairly odd in general. Declined breakfast. Decor is very heavy on the taxidermy.
