Liked: We loved that the hotel has retained the rustic charm of the old building the car park has a magnificent view over the valley the staff were friendly and when we had a problem with our room they were very quick to remedy it all the meeting rooms we used were decorated sympathetically with the historic building the hotel was clean and the facilities well kept the breakfast was top quality and served very quickly
Disliked: The staircase up to the rooms in the older part of the hotel are not great especially after a few drinks

Hotel with a great team...

Liked: This Hotel/pub was pretty much what we needed as a pre-wedding stop-over. The location was ideal and the staff very exceedingly helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and good
Disliked: The hotel building itself was a bit worn out and needed some refurb in places but it did the needs.

Lovely place to stay/exceptional bar...

Liked: Breakfast was amazing, good choice of continental breakfast, cereal fruit yogurt croissant juices or full English breakfast, bacon sausage mushrooms beans hash browns and choice of eggs, as much toast and coffee as needed
Disliked: Bedroom was little dusty with few cobwebs

Liked: Good choice of breakfast. Friendly staff. Reasonable priced drinks . Bar sandwiches very nice. Lovely location. Really nice building. Beautiful viewsfrom the car park.
Disliked: Room did not have a window to outside. Unable to open windows to cool room down as it was very warm through the night. Missed having the option to have fresh air in the room. Our room was also in the corner of the corridor so we did experience some noise from that fortunately the hotel wasnt that busy. If we were to of stayed longer than 2 nights we would of requested to change rooms.

Pleasant stay made great by...

Liked: Located on the edge of the Peak District, just off the main road. A wedding venue with lots of public spaces. Bedrooms are well-equipped and spotless. Breakfasts were very tasty with plenty of choice. Evening food good and well-served. What made this hotel stand out, though, was the staff. I have seldom stayed anywhere with such smiley, friendly staff. Without exception, they were wonderful!
Disliked: Our bedroom featured a shower (very good) over the bath, with a full length shower screen (great). The only problem was that being short, I found it really difficult to get in and out of the bath because of the screen surround. It probably wouldn't be an issue for someone just a little taller.
