Poor

Liked: The place could do with a deep spring clean, particularly the bathrooms and showers- these were not at all clean. The beds are old and squeaky, and as soon as someone moves, everyone wakes up. The curtains don't cover the windows, so you're wakened by passing cars headlights. There should be curtains around each bunk bed to allow the traveller a small peice of privacy.

Satisfactory Stay at the SAN...

Liked: The location was excellent close to the town and, only a block away from the Amtrak station within walking distance of a good grocery store. The staff were very helpful and, one young man moved my suitcase up the stairs.
Disliked: It was quite noisy when a family moved in the second night with Young kids.The fridge needed some attention as it was jammed with too many items. It did not seem that clean.The place is locked between 11:00 am and 4:30 pm so Otis difficult if you arrive between those hours.

Liked: This hostel is affordable compared to hotels in SLO, the common room / porch / exterior is cute, and it's in great walking distance to downtown. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was super accommodating and one let me borrow his phone charger.
Disliked: We stayed in the room adjacent to the common room, so I understand there will be some noise, but it felt like quiet hours weren't that respected. Two people (I think staff?) had a heated argument in the lobby that was semi whispered but I could hear most of it. From what I gathered it was about the manager not holding himself to the same standards he holds guests? They mentioned the police being called?? It just was not a great thing to overhear at 1 in the morning during our first night in a place with only a door lock on the door. Also the extra duvets smelled a bit off / were visibly dirty, at least the sheets were clean.
