Loved being in the center...
Liked: Loved the room and the decor, loved the lobby and decor. Loved the other guests - so many from Europe!
Disliked: The sad situation with unhoused people in streets on blocks near the hotel.

The hotel is an oasis in a shabby, dangerous atmosphere. $100 overnight parking. Not worth it.
Disliked: Inside the hotel is an oasis, but outside the hotel is a shabby, dangerous atmosphere. The rooms are cheap and I guess it is my fault for not doing the research--during the pandemic, downtown was abandoned and it became a homeless encampment. There were entire blocks with homeless set up in tents and exchanging drugs out in the open. We walked three blocks to a Michelin-star Thai restaurant and had a great meal but we were followed by a man who shouted at us the entire walk home. The hotel does offer a driver to take you anywhere in the city, but they stop that service at 7pm. What a shame for San Francisco and for all those unhoused living in terrible conditions. Also, the valet parking was outrageously expensive $100 per night! I would have never stayed there if I had known it and it took over 20 minutes to get our car.

Mediocre
Liked: The hotel was very pretty and well appointed However, the experience did not live up to the experience we had at Downtown Proper in LA
Disliked: Did not like the location They had beer on their menu both at the rooftop bar and the bar in the lobby but we were told of both places that they dont carry beer anymore After a long day of being out, its nice to know you can come back to your hotel and have a nice cold beer. They should take it off the menu. Also, we could not have lunch at the hotel because the red top did not open until 4 oclock and there was a womens gambling convention in the downstairs lobby in Restaurant.. we had invited friends to come there and join us for lunch, but had to go somewhere else We pay way too much for our stay there to not have this information ahead of time Definitely will not recommend or return
