Great value for money, and...

Liked: Staff were great, despite being very busy split between the restaurant, bar and hotel guests.Additionally, as its primarily a restaurant, it's less roudy than staying at a pub. And the food was great!
Disliked: It's a beautiful 16th century building. But it means the sound insulation is low and you can hear doors closing and street noises more than modern places. But the ear plugs I took, and white noise from the phone solved that.

Liked: The location was very good for ease of access to the Harwich ferry. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was first rate.
Disliked: The bed was so soft that you couldn't move without rolling out .... Even Mother Bear would have rejected the bed in room 6, and Goldilocks would have run a mile.Also there was a dull base noise the entire time, something akin to an extraction fan or refrigerated unit running ....

Disliked: I had hoped to use my night stay to catch up with a few work related items and read in a calm environment. Not so ....a party was being held in the bar below - so unable to get an evening meal and the noise - bass from the DJ meant the whole room was shaking / vibrating. It was extreme....I wouldn't have minded some party noise but the booming was unbearable. I had a headache for most of the next day.Perhaps a warning that this was happening would have been nice. I understand that you are a bar - have a business to run. As a solo traveller, I was making use of the room and its facilities. If I had been part of a couple - it would have been easier to stay out somewhere.
