The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate just a few minutes' walk from Arthurs Seat Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City's world famous landmarks. Disliked: The room was too small, I paid £105 for a box room. I stayed at the scholar the week before and paid the same for a room twice the size.

Very good

Liked: The Scholar is part of Pollock Halls complex (University of Edinburgh), which is something we only realised when we turned up. But since we were there for the University Open Day, it worked well for us. The hotel itself is modern and clean, the beds and pillows are comfortable and breakfast was nice too.
Disliked: The car park right next to the hotel is very small, and although there are alternative free car parks available it can be very confusing when you first get there. It's about 30 minutes walk to the city centre, which is fine on a nice day but not so great when it rains.
