Liked: Our flight got canceled so the staff made early entry easy. Room and location was very good. Bed was excellent
Disliked: Over night it got hot in the room. Assumed the aircon got turned down but the humidity at the time was very high so that was the only dislike.

Rydges Rocks

Liked: I've been a long term regular visitor to Rydges Southbank Townsville.For me it is a great location that has a good atmosphere and vibe, with amazing staff Jack and Jacquie always making us feel welcome. The hotel is always clean and the rooms and beds are comfortable, although my wife feels the bathrooms are ageing, but I'm fine with this as I'm also a bit rough around the edges :) . On a couple of occasions in the past we've had rooms with aircon problems that were not cooling well, or the evaporator fan was really loud, but the staff are quick to have the situation resolved.We love the buffet breakfast with the variety of food and beverages they offer, which adds to the enjoyment of our stay.As I am a regular visitor to Townsville I book well in advance to ensure I secure accommodation at Rydges and to avoid the price hikes when Townsville event dates are released. Unfortunately looking to book in 2026 I see accommodation price increases of 50% from my current rates. So despite my consistent loyal patronage with Rydges, I can't see my family continuing to stay here in the future if rates aren't competitive.For some this is simply a room or somewhere to sleep when travelling. For us staying at Rydges this has been part of our excitement staying in Townsville. Thanks for the great times and great memories. 10/10!
