Lovely brief stay in Geelong....

Liked: Convenient location. Nice staff. Restaurant and breakfast buffet was great.
Disliked: The bathroom was tiny.

Nice big room thats close...

Liked: The room is a good size. My partner had arranged some special surprises for me that had been organized which was nice. The cakes probably needed to go in the fridge or the air con on as they were hot and melting and we checked in around 3 maybe even a little earlier so im not sure how long they had been there
Disliked: that the shower was mouldy in places, the phone had fallen off the bed head and when my partner went to sleep he could hear a phone tone but couldnt work out where it was coming from. We found the phone under the bed side table in the morning, pillows were a little Uncomfy and the shower needed a thorough cleaning. The pool bar was very disappointing. The fridge and the air con were very noisy, im glad i brought my ear plugs

Rydges Geelong - Cleanliness 1...

Liked: As always with Rydges, the bed was super soft and comfortable. Reception staff were lovely, but a bit under the pump as it was a busy night. Good location as close enough to CBD without being too noisy.
Disliked: Unfortunately my experience this time wasn't nearly as enjoyable as on previous stays. My room must have been turned over quickly as the hand towel had not been changed (previous occupant had spilled tea or something so it was obviously dirty). The kettle was an older style and covered in a layer of dust - had to clean it before using. The fridge was not cold and light didn't work.Breakfast was truly awful. I went down at 9am and expected a reasonable quality as last time had been amazing. However, the bacon was a pot of bacon bits swimming in an inch of grease, couldn't pull out even a half slice - it was all overcooked pieces. The scrambed eggs were sloppy and not very well cooked. The plates of sliced fruit were dried out. The bread station was sparse and only had a few options. The table I was given had not been wiped down and the general cleanliness of the dining room was poor. I wonder if the hotel is under new management? Or maybe they simply do not put on enough staff to cope with busy weekends. Disappointing overall.
