Steep and lacking staff and...
Liked: Size of rooms, food in restaurant.
Disliked: Steps, steps, steps, hills, hills, slopes. Very heavy doors. Lack of staff. Walks were along busy roads. Lack of basics in self-catering rooms. No salt or pepper.

Nice people and lovely hotel
Liked: Beautiful space and views
Disliked: Our room was tiny and we had to all up stairs as lift didn’t go all the way to the top. Difficult due to pregnancy!

On the whole, very enjoyable
Liked: Blossoms had lovely service and wonderful food at dinner and breakfast. The location was really beautiful, and great for local walking. The gym is fantastic—I was very impressed. The gym staff were all so friendly and helpful—thank you to them all. All the staff at the hotel were cheerful, friendly, and helpful, in fact!
Disliked: The bed was a bit small and too firm, and the duvet was much too small even for two slender adults

Overall a good stay. But...
Liked: Great location situated in beautiful Rutland Water. The food quality for our evening meal and breakfast was fantastic.
Disliked: Paid for a lake view king room. We were very disappointed with the view! Definitely no view of the lake from room 505. Staff on check in asked if we had stayed before, to which we answered “no”. She did not discuss any information with us only where our room was and that they needed to take a £50 holding charge. Standard information such as:- where breakfast is served and the times- WiFi connection details - explanation about the holding charge (it goes up as you spend within the hotel) - where the leisure facilities were located on the grounds and the opening times/how to book into these. For 2x nights at a premium price (over £500), we had hoped for a better service to be checked in. The process the hotel has for spending while staying is very confusing. For our evening meal we asked for the bill and were asked to sign for a receipt to charge the meal to the room, but the afternoon tea bill we had to pay there and then. Upon check out, we needed to pay for the extra charges and we needed an explanation for the additional holding charge we were charged for. As you spend more at your stay, the holding charge increases, which is confusing.

Good
Liked: Location is great, restaurant food and breakfast was really good
Disliked: We stayed in a standard king and the view from the room was nothing but a wall with a path next to our room which guests walk past and can see straight into your room. Hair dryer didn’t work, only enough hot water for one shower then that was it.
