Bransgrove, Essex, visiting Portsmouth Guildhall Mon, 27 April 2015
The hotel in general was nice and friendly, but when going towards the room I noticed how old fashioned and dated everything looked, like it needed updating from the carpet to the walls. In the room it was clean and tidy but everything was a little dated - it was like going back to the 70's. Personally I prefer a nice crisp clean look in the rooms but this definitely wasn't the case. I think this could be a really lovely hotel as the location is perfect but it needs a good refit. Considering what we paid for the room I was expecting more.
Liked: Clean as can be considering how old everything is.
Disliked: Very old fashioned.

Great place to stay. Would...
Liked: Good sized rooms (budget doubles booked) with double beds (Can't separate to twins) with large bathroom, tv and kettle etc. Access to swimming pool with extra towels provided at reception. Bar area downstairs. Great breakfast buffet kids ate well. Lots of things to look at - paintings and models. Location - 5 mins from entrance to historic dockyard and 7 from Portsmouth harbour train station, maybe 10 mins from gunwarf keys shopping area.

very nice
Liked: Lovely hotel , very close to the dockyard which was the reason for our visit , food was lovely , room was nice and the bed was SOOO COMFORTABLE slept like a baby
Disliked: the room was a little chilly side , tried to put the radiator on and it wouldn't heat up , thought there was a problem asked at reception and was told that the heating does not kick in until the temp goes below 16degrees ! i was given an electric heating to plug in so the room was nice a toastie .I would say that the public areas of the hotel felt a little unwelcoming just because they were cold , it does not encourage you to stay in the bar

Only stayed one night ....
Liked: LOCATION , staff, very good breakfast ,room spotlessly clean . But really tired.
Disliked: Budget rooms very poor and very shabby. And west wing carpets need cleaning. Terrible stained. Paintwork all chipped . Not even a 1 star .
