Good In Parts, Not in...

Liked: The Room was of a good size and clean in every aspect The grounds were extensive with a location well tuned to those wanting to by-pass the hurry and noise of the city.
Disliked: For the period of our stay there were electrical problems within the hotels kitchen. This caused the menu to be constrained to an unacceptable level. Yes; my vegetarianism is still considered an oddity by UK catering establishments but one option is no option when that option is a corrupted travesty of what is most usually a fine example of Italian Cuisine. Tagliatelle or Linguini with sautéed Mushrooms is 'magnificent' just add a little white wine. single cream some garlic, tarragon and oregano then scatter fine shavings of Grana Padano for perfection. However the offering for dinner was the Pasta and Mushrooms in a 'Broth', I hope I never see or hear of the like again. Might I suggest that if faced with a similar situation your chef bites the proverbial bullet uses vermicelli not tagliatelle or linguini in his broth and after throwing in a few peas, carrots and diced onion calls it for what it is a 'Minestrone' .My Sicilian mother would be turning in her Grave, Gravy or perhaps Broth at the thought of it.One last and no less important issue; this hotel has no lift ( for our American cousins an elevator ) Two flight of stairs upward to reach our room were for these decrepit octogenarians somewhat of a trial. I should have checked more diligently rather than presume that any Four Star Hotel with guest bedrooms on more than one floor would have at least one lift, that if only to ease the burden placed upon their own staff by not having that facility. That one was my fault alone !!

we enjoyed our stay but...

Liked: The reception staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The room we had was very good. The bed was very comfortable and spacious and the bathroom facilities were superb. We enjoyed our stay immensely. We would like to give a special mention for one of the members of staff, I believe her name was Jade Bennett. She was very friendly, attentive to our needs and helped to make our stay enjoyable.
Disliked: We felt the restaurant was very poor. Food was never hot, it always arrived warm which meant it got cold before you had finished. On one occasion my wife’s dinner arrived cold and we had to send it back. By the time it arrived hot, I had already finished my own meal. The menu itself had been changed at the weekend and we arrived on the Monday. This meant that the waitress could not answer any questions asked and had to keep going to the kitchen to find the answer. This in itself was annoying. We would willingly return for another visit but, unfortunately, we would not eat at the hotel.
