It's ok

Liked: The location on the West Highland Way is great. The staff are organized if you're using baggage transfer. The rooms are very clean and the bathroom well equipped.
Disliked: The bed and pillows are terrible. I haven't slept on anything this uncomfortable since I was in the military. Didn't sleep very well at all because the bed and pillow are so firm. And the pillows are incredibly thin. Also the bathroom being located outside the room is not ideal. My bathroom was located up a small flight of stairs from the room. The room next to me has their bathroom across the hall. It's an old hotel but very strange design and very inefficient. The staff were nice but if you needed anything you had to talk them down at the bar and hope to get their attention. For the money, they could do better.

Great stay, but skip the...

Liked: We were warmly welcomed by the man on the check-in desk and booked ourselves in for dinner that night. The food was great, we shared the chicken tenders to start, then had the bang bang chicken pasta for our mains. The location is perfect right by the lake side so we enjoyed a view with our dinner.The bath was spacious, the beds were comfy and we had a comfy night staying here. Breakfast is a buffet style and is what you would expect from this.
Disliked: The only small gripe would be the price of the packed lunches compared to what you get in them. £12 for a sandwich, a chocolate bar, a carton of juice, a bag of crisps and a piece of fruit seems a bit excessive.Advice for future travellers, if you need items for lunch, there is a fantastic honesty box called Ben's Bakes a short walk along the West Highland Way after Rowardennan Youth Hostel. They offer a wide range of products: cheese rolls, flans, hard boiled eggs, etc. (See attached photo for more). This is so much cheaper than the packed lunch, plus the quality of the items is great too.

Liked: We stayed in a lodge en suite room which was warmed up and toasty before our arrival. In good condition.Great friendly customer service at reception.Right next to Loch Lomond, amazing views at sunset from the lodge area and the garden at the bar. Also right on the west highland way, didn’t need to walk off the track at all.Incredible big breakfast, cooked breakfast with cereal yoghurt and bread available too. We had seconds of breakfast as it was so good.They are also able to provide a packed lunch for the next day if required.Only downside would be the price / value for money, although we did enjoy our stay here, it is more than we would usually spend for a hotel - but there are not many options around in this remote area!
