Liked: Staff really helpful. Booked via Booking.com. Had been allocated outside room by them access via upstairs via fire escape. I have had previous experience of being robbed whilst staying in similar room at Gatwick prior to a holiday and didn't feel safe being a solo traveller. Hotel changed me to inside room which was more expensive but did not charge me extra. A lot of friends had booked for Xmas party event. Lovely room, helpful staff
Disliked: Only one downstairs room if you have disability. Friend rented with disabled husband. Room large, comfortable and good access with shower but outside downstairs bungalow separate from hotel if help needed

Liked: Good location for our visit to Chelmsford and a dance competition in Rayleigh. Clean rooms and food at restaurant was good. The staff were helpful.
Disliked: The rooms were a bit cold on arrival and drafty - although it was a very windy weekend due to storm Bert, so unusual.

Liked: This was a last minute booking, in which booking.com offered to pay for the accommodation due to issues with my prior booking.Therefore it required me calling them and asking numerous questions regarding my allergies and more at short notice.The Rettendon Lodge staff were amazing! So professional, polite, friendly and they offered us a late checkout to match what we were meant to get at the other venue.Even if we had paid this price, it would've still been extremely reasonable!We ended up staying for quite a few hours the following day after our booking, to sit in the last of the summer sun in their beautiful surrounding gardens, then had food inside.They cater for numerous dietary restrictions too.The room/bathroom itself was very clean, modern and comfortable. There was no issue with neighbouring noise and we were given a key and key code to access our room after our Halloween party.
Disliked: I cannot fault them.The only thing to note that it is quite far out from anywhere and difficult/expensive to get taxis to Chelmsford
