The first impression continues inside the Rectory. Gentile. One feels you are entering a dear friend's home, with staff. The Harrods tableware matches perfectly with the dining rooms. Looking onto a rustic garden with a plethora of song birds and the screech of the resident Buzzard. Black sheep and horses in the paddock. Wonderful friendly staff, happy to help you as best they can. Roger is a wonderful, caring host. Rectory Farm is to be recomended.

Liked: The location on 25 acres of rural landscape is excellent. Electric gates sets the tone. The main house where we stayed with log fires burning really makes you feel at home. Roger the owner is a gentile man that truly does care that your stay is perfect.
Disliked: The breakfasts, although an excellent Continental with fresh fruits and yoghurts and full on Standard English, the time of one hour was a minimum.

unpleasant

Liked: The main building is beautiful old house and garden is well maintained. Carpark was big.
Disliked: The hotel charged us for leaving our luggage there for few hours in the afternoon when we arrived and couldn’t get to our room yet. We were not told about the charge even though the hotel claims that we were.Staff was not friendly or helpful.Self check in was quite odd system and there were plenty of people wondering around and trying to find their rooms. Our room was in the side building and it is in need of redecorating. There are big cracks on the walls and ceiling, carpet is old and bathroom has mold.Location is really far from the centre and transport options are very limited. The motorway is close by which is convenient if you arrive by car but you can hear the motorway noise clearly to the property.

Quiet and comfortable

Liked: Great location. Very comfortable and clean. Slept amazingly well.
Disliked: Check in process was made out to be very complicated and many (>6!) emails were sent in the preceding 24 hours which seemed somewhat excessive. It implied an app would be needed to open the door so I downloaded it in advance but actually when I arrived and went to receptions very kind lady gave me a key and that was it, so was in fact very simple but I had felt quite stressed and panicked about getting in due to all the emails and instructions. This could be simplified by having one receptionist (as there seemed to be) to give out keys, available by phone if not able to wait around, and a simple secure process for after hours. Did not like the idea of an app as it relies on having phone charge and that seems not very inclusive to those who don’t have or can’t use a smartphone. I was glad I had a normal key. This process is the only thing that would put me off staying again as otherwise my stay was excellent.

Superb

Liked: Excellent can’t comment on staff as we didn’t see or speak to anyone. It was a bit warm in the room - some people have to find something to moan about. Really lovely would recommend and May visit again
