Fabulous hidden gem with stunning...

Liked: Amazing country hotel, stunning views, fabulous location. A hidden gem! Next to the farm and Dodd Wood Forest, 5 minutes from Mire House and Gardens. Excellent food, tasty and presentation was extremely posh! Excellent, friendly customer service.
Disliked: No fridge or iron the room, no milk for the tea so make sure you ask.

It was good but ......

Liked: Location and the staff are great but the rooms aren't that well kept - we ran into an issue with our shower when we first arrived in our room, when turned on the main shower head it would squirt water onto the ceiling and onto the spotlight above. We raised this with the front desk in the morning, after a nice 2 hour walk we came back and checked in on the shower situation (lady at the front desk was lovely!). We waited 10 minutes and a guy came down to look at it and simply said he wasn't a plumber so couldn't fix it and that we would have to use the small handheld shower head. We said this would be an issue as my partner is on the taller side so would have to bent down to get a wash each time and also the pressure on this small shower head wasn't the best. We asked if a change of room was possible with the broken shower but he said no and that there wasn't anything he could do (no discount or anything else was offered either, no sorry to boot too). So this left a sour note on the trip and us both not getting proper washes. Also, I found the beds way too firm for my liking but my partner found them fine so could be a personal preference and the rooms were a tad smaller compared to the ones in Ravenstone Manor (it's sister hotel) but not too fussy on that. Other than the rooms - the food, staff and location/view is great

Beautiful Stay

Liked: This was an absolutely beautiful find. We loved every minute of our stay and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and some of the best I have had. The room was so cozy and had everything we needed, with lots of space. The weather wasn't the greatest so didn't get to explore the outside areas but we definitely plan to return
Disliked: Nothing

Cosy and calm - very...

Liked: All-round great experience. What summed it up for me was “care”. Brett, the man who checked us in, made us feel welcome and cared for, engaging us in genuine conversation, giving us fresh milk for the room and even letting me try some of his home made biltong! The lady who served us at breakfast (didn’t catch her name) was similarly caring. The chef who cooked the breakfast - and makes the black pudding in house - offered me extra black pudding when I complemented him on it. From top to bottom this place seemed like it was run for the right reasons. Add to that a great location, cosy room and delicious ingredients, and you have a potent recipe.
Disliked: They didn’t have Marmite
