Liked: Convenient off freeway location.
Disliked: Most uncomfortable bed ever! Couch was broken as well. Screaming woman in hall continued for over an hour in the middle of the night. Staff didn't respond to multiple phone calls to stop her. Breakfast was a joke.

Poor

Liked: The water park was ok.
Disliked: The life guards were very rude to kids and yelled, our room was falling apart, the smoke detector was falling off the ceiling, there was no hot water, 2 out of the 4 lamps were broken. They stated there was a free breakfast and there was only cereal that was always out.

Very Good

Liked: Location. My room seemed updated and smelled nice. Pool and arcade were open. Nice grass area around the hotel to walk a dog. Also, they have an enclosed courtyard area for a pet or just a space to hang out. Beds and pillows were comfy. The front desk was nice, attentive. Overall, kids had fun. It was a good stay with the family.
Disliked: Could've updated curtains and lamps. My shower pull didn't pull all the way, so it leaked water and affected my water pressure. Ordered from restaurant, first day pizza was burnt and dry..and fried chicken waaay too salty. 2nd day pizza we ordered was good. No free hot breakfast as they advertised in my welcome email/txt. Cereal,fruit,muffin/pastry all I saw. Fitness treadmill had 1 speed, feel buttons on both were broken. No big deal(to me)

Disappointing that pool area is...

Liked: My father in law passed away on the date of this stay. We currently live in Omaha, Nebraska and I believe we had a total of four stays between Sept and Oct for a total of 6 days, I believe? Anyhow, the gentleman working the front desk, night Manager maybe? I am disappointed in myself for not remembering his name because he checked us in on every visit and I made a point of asking at least twice so I could have him recognized. Only other employee I saw was an older grouchy white man. The black gentleman early 30's I'd say is contributing greatly to the overall CP of this location simply because he appreciates his guests. He is obviously aware of the fact "his" guests could choose one of the 50 other hotels in Des Moines and now they have loft apartments essentially downtown with rooftop access etc and they are cheap! I choose to stay at this particular hotel because of this specific employee. I actually had a terrible experience when coming for my daughter's birthday for Adventure land and to visit family. It was unreal how the woman had an outright flat, emotionless attitude when dealing with the issue. I am pretty certain now that she is the GM of this property she kept referring to the "GM" as if it weren't, however I was on a call with Booking com for hours at the same time and 3 times they informed me that they were needing to place me on hold to discuss the situation with the hotel GM, each time I walked in the front door and listened to her speaking with the representative I was on hold with. Hopefully I'm wrong and that isn't who operates this high volumes location, I had to send a shitty email and received a call within minutes from guest service manager I believe and she did something that I was being told for HOURS wasn't possible.Wasted 4 hours of Adventure land time, watched lg group get the poolside I had paid for etc and still paid same price no apology. This man saved a regular guest just fyi
Disliked: The doors for the restrooms are straight garbage...they have been since day 1 but now they don't even lock halfway like before. Some people feel more comfortable with a real door and one that locks. It's also very disappointing that except for Weekends you have 1 SMALL pool available for entire hotel, not a single slide, hot tub closed, tiki bar not opened etc etc. Due to this and having several nephews between 6 and 16 I have checked Adventureland Inn before booking with you, sucks because family is 2 blocks from Ramada tropics but literally $5 less Adventure inn that has all swimming areas actually open. What in gods name is the POINT? I don't understand why you are choosing to close the BIGGEST reason 80% plus of your guests choose to stay with you. If they have children it's 100% guaranteed that anyone traveling with children are going to go straight to you and or Adventure land Inn. They were booked solid two of our last stays. Thankfully two of the rooms were taken by my sister in law and her family so my family went there, paid for bracelets that were "included" with my Ramada stay. Anywho gentleman working nights is outstanding with your guests. Female with entitled attitude during my August stay is an ass and should not be in the hospitality industry. Seriously, she's awful! Another guest approached me and stated that the large group that you DID have poolside rooms for were friends or family of employees based on interactions and that it was clear they did not reserve a damn thing. Thank you sir! And up yours lady!
